Obtaining Your Taxi/Private Hire Driver Medical
Before being granted a Taxi or private hire drivers licence you must pass a medical assessment to ensure you are safe to operate a vehicle on public roads. What’s involved in the medical?
Your medical consists of:
Vision Test
If you wear glasses or lenses for driving, please bring these and your prescription along to help with the assessment.
Medical Assessment
You will be assessed in-line with DVLA standards which will mean we have to take in to account your medical history and current medical condition to ensure you are safe to operate aTaxi or private hire vehicle.
The whole process should be completed in around 15-30 minutes . Our doctor may be able to make a decision on the medical straight away but in some cases they may also request extra tests.
